We're so privileged to get in touch with some stellar photographers whose work we really admire. Photographer Bradford Rogne sent over these photos from his LASC campaign, featuring Jakub Stefano. He was also nice enough to answer a few of our questions in this exclusive Q&A! How did you get connected with Jakub for the shoot? Jakub and I actually connected thru MySpace, and decided we wanted to eventually work on a project together. He emailed me in January to let me know he'd be back in LA soon, so when this opportunity came up, I thought he'd be perfect! And he was! What did it take for you to capture the mid-air shots of Jakub? Well, I went out and got a trampoline for the shoot. But, little did I know how high Jakub can jump on his own. No trampoline required! Even with a basketball injury, he was able to stay in the air thru-ought the shoot, no problem. So, if anyone wants to buy a trampoline... :-) What is your favorite photo from the campaign? I have so many favorite images from the shoot. One of them is the jumping photo with the green tank top, yellow shorts and purple high tops. [ Ed - see the shot below! ] It's just a fun shot, and really captures the essence of what I wanted to get from the shoot. What is the next project we can expect to see from you? Lady GaGa Takes a Trip Underground for LoveGame Video - Towleroad
Here's Lady GaGa's video for her next single "LoveGame". The video was directed by Joseph Kahn and shot mostly in Los Angeles (though it features the NYC subway) in early January. Two Great Dane dogs, which featured in her early videos for "Poker Face" and "Eh, Eh" also appear briefly here in an early shot as she descends a staircase in the subway. The clip features some steamy lesbian action, as well as an odd bit of Campari product placement. Lady GaGa has discussed her bisexuality in the past. She told HX in August: "I love men, I love women and I love sex, but I’m actually pretty introverted right now because I’m so enveloped in my work, and it’s hard to let anybody near that. Barney Frank Names Transgender Man His Senior Policy Advisor - Towleroad
Congressman Barney Frank announced the replacement of outgoing Senior Policy Advisor Joe Racalto with Diego Sanchez. Sanchez, a transgender man, is currently the Director of Public Relations & External Affairs for AIDS Action Committee of Massachusetts and this past August was the first transgender person appointed by the DNC to the Platform Committee, according to The Transadvocate. They also note that he is a member of the Human Rights Campaign’s (HRC) Boston Steering Committee and the HRC Business Council. They report: "Breaking with most transgender activists, Sanchez has also continued to work with the HRC (even though they are one of the few organizations that do not oppose a gay only ENDA). Some worry that the HRC and Barney Frank will use Sanchez as cover for their continuing support of the two bill strategy...Sanchez may be a buffer for Frank to the GLBT community, but his background will also help in some important policy arenas." Writes Autumn Sandeen at Pam's House Blend: "Honestly, I'm quite pleased at this development. I don't expect miracles to happen with regards to federal gender identity and expression inclusive legislation because of this hire, nor do I expect Rep. Frank to completely embrace a fully inclusive ENDA just because he hired a Latino transman. However, my trans peers and I, as well as the broader LGBT community and our allies, can find progress and hope within Rep. Frank's hiring of Diego Sanchez. If nothing else, it's a strong statement about Sanchez's qualifications, as well as about Rep. Frank's commitment to equal employment opportunity -- at least within the federal workplace."
